Kristy Jell reveals her perfect hideaway in South West Cornwall Sometimes it's hard to tell the truth. Porth-en-alls is one of those places that makes me want to keep it to myself and not tell you how amazing it is but I'm going to take a deep breath and here goes.
We once stumbled across Porth-en-alls on a walk and it had a feeling of enchantment about it that made us curious to find out more. I've since stayed with family, small groups of friends and been to a big party there and every time it's been something I'll never forget. Porth-en-alls overlooks the Atlantic on the South West coast of Cornwall, just a few miles east of Penzance. There are fifteen houses on the privately owned estate, all of which can be rented. All the cottages or houses on the estate are set close to or overlooking the crashing waves of Prussia Cove, named after the notorious eighteenth century smuggler, John Carter, who as a boy called himself the King of Prussia when playing soldiers with his brother. He later lived and traded from a cottage on the beach. The main house, which is where we've always stayed, can be hired in its entirety sleeping twenty five or rented floor by floor. The house is full of echoes of the past and at least once when we've been there I could swear it was haunted. Ladies in Lavender was filmed here and the views are just awe inspiring and unforgettable. The main house has its own beach with private access which is quite something. From the moment you drive down the bumpy track that seems to go on and on until you arrive at the Gothic styled house you are pulled into another world.
