Tregulland: An Awe-Inspiring Holiday House

Well let's just start with wow, basically, because this place is truly awesome. A barn and cottage which together sleep 22 Tregulland is so stylish and seriously luxed up you'll find it impossible to leave.

It has been interior designed by Marcus Crane who specialises in a hip, vintage feel, has a spectacular freshwater indoor pool, cinema room and a large dining table which can seat up to 24. It has to be the ultimate venue for big family parties - last summer there was a week long golden wedding celebration here with a different activity each day - magicians for the children, a huge catered dinner, an en masse trip out to Rick Stein's cookery school. Sounds nice, doesn't it? It also works for those statement birthdays - maybe leave the kids behind and ship in 20 of your BFs (though with all that's on offer for children here they are not going to be happy). So come and take a look. Each bedroom has a very different design and vibe and are named after birds or wild flowers - Barn Owl, Kestrel, Meadowsweet. They are all exquisitely decorated so there's none of that undignified scrambling for the best one. They are all en suite too, stuffed with gorgeous Cornish bath products and HansGrohe rainfall showers. Naturally there's an iPod dock in each room - this place rocks. The best thing about Tregulland is that it is full of nooks and crannies so though you maybe 22 in number there are plenty of places for escape. The Sun Room is the place to curl up with a good novel or the papers, for personal space hole up in the Snug. There's a state of the art kitchen and a huge dining table which can seat 24. The kitchen has every kind of appliance for the obsessive cook but Tregulland can organise local chefs for you - or from Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant if you so desire - so let the party commence. The pool house has to be seen to be believed. It's one of a few indoor fresh water pools in the world and the only one in the UK - and basically means you're swimming in spring water. Oh and there's a steam room and a separate pool for the kids. The huge cinema room complete with wood burning stove means bad weather won't matter in the slightest, in fact it's a bonus. Recently a bunch of teenagers took every cushion in the house over there and squatted for pretty much the whole week. Tregulland is a place which suits every generation. As for things to do, well, you're spoilt for choice. Tregulland is near Launceston, close to Bodmin Moor for unbeatable rambling, around 40 minutes from Rock and Padstow or the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The team here can also organise any kind of entertainment from riding to surfing lessons to yoga retreats or a fitness camp with their in-house personal trainer. There's carp fishing on the beautiful 1 acre lake and other lakes close by for serious anglers. There are 16 acres to roam around at Tregulland and a river runs through the land (complete with otters). I need to tell you about the children's play area which will blow your offspring's minds just as surely as the cool and crazily comfortable interiors are going to blow yours. Check it out -there's a mini climbing wall, a slide, swings, whisper pipe and hidden underground pip that comes up in the mini fort, stepping stones, balance planks, a Cornish pirate boat, toddler castle and digger track bumps. Done deal, wouldn't you say? Weeks for the cottage and barn start at £6000 and low season there are 4 night midweek deals from £39.50 pp based on sharing a room (and 22 staying).
