On the Rivet
a brand new cycling and spa retreat in West Dorset feeds into our obsesssion with all things and lycra and is very much on the zeitgeist.
Set up by British cycling coach Jim Styrin and his partner Debs Shilling, an event and party planner, this is the antithesis of a boot camp. Yes there’s a serious physical workout each day but in the midst of drop dead scenery and with the prospect of equally serious luxury back at the ranch.
The retreats are held in a stunning country house in West Dorset with a spa, pool, hot tubs and fabulous cooking featuring local and artisan ingredients.
During the day challenging bike rides take place across the iconic West Dorset landscape – stopping at lunch time in idyllic spots with healthy but gourmet picnics. The idea is to push yourself to achieve new exercise goals under Jim’s expert coaching, then get back to your luxury base and properly relax.
The retreats are suited to anyone who can cope with at least 3-4 hours of intense cycling and feature challenging climbs along with the spectacular scenery.
Back at base there are steam rooms to relax in and the prospect of an Indian head massage or Thai foot massage.
Retreats are mid week for either 2 or 4 nights. More info here
