Electric Bike Tours in West Dorset (the Easy Way...)

Cycling is easily the best way to soak up the stunning Dorset and Devon countryside - that famous craggy coastline, those green and rolling hills   - but let's face it the endless ups and downs are enough to put you off.

Genius new venture, then, is Marshwood Trails, which offers guided tours through the most spectacular parts of West Dorset on electric bikes. Get to a hill and let your bike do all the work for you -  like it.

It's the brainchild of Martin Gershon an expert cyclist who will lead you through the stunning Marshwood Vale fringed by Iron Age hillforts, to Charmouth, Burton Bradstock, Weymouth and Portland.

In East Devon you can cycle around Lyme Regis, stopping off at a local winery and travelling through picturesque villages.

If desired Martin can also produce a delicious home-made picnic at a jaw-droppingly beautiful spot (insider knowledge). Having him around takes away the pain of those annoying and seemingly unavoidable punctures too.

Martin  says: “The routes for our guided electric bike tours have been carefully selected to ensure guests have a great day out, and they are opportunities to learn about the area's vibrant history, meet its food producers and craftspeople, and sample delicious local produce. It’s definitely about the experiences along the way not the amount of miles covered, so the pace is gentle and the distances travelled are always within everyone’s comfort zone.”

Activity holidays are bang on trend but with the Marshwood Trails tour, you get all the buzz of a good cycling trip without exhausting yourself in the process. What's not to like?

Prices start from £25 per person and child seats and tagalongs are available for children up to 7. Electric bikes are not suitable for children under the age of 14. Half day tours are around 15 miles, full day 25 miles.
