Kicking off our new series 'My Favourite Place', Dorset photographer Katharine Davies takes us on a tour of Bridport's Antique Quarter...
My love for Bridport went off the scale when I discovered the 'Antiques Quarter' on a toddler-free trip and actually had time to explore. A treasure trove for vintage/retro lovers on the St Michael's Trading Estate, just a few minutes walk from the market. Scores of traders work from the Alleyways Antiques Centre and adjoining warehouses selling everything from vintage clothes and accessories to furniture and ceramics, C20th collectables and curiosities.
It's an endless source of interesting props especially for styling food photography - lots of old enamel, flatware, pots and pans!
I always find something in Old Albion, stacked to the rafters with carefully-selected industrial and rustic salvage for the home, some of it on a quite a grand scale - a touch of luxe without the price-tag.
Katharine Davies is a Dorset girl returned home, living in Sherborne with her young family and working as a portrait and lifestyle photographer.
